It can be very hard to get my 22 students together on the weekends for shows, but at our recent program at Bible Believing Baptist Church in Gray, Maine, we were able to get 21 of the 22 kids to turn out. BBBC is a long time friend of our ministry, and they have hosted us several times. Emilee, an 8th grader, attends this church, which made it a special morning for her and her family.
LOL did a 65 minute show, our longest ever, but there was never a lull. Since it was her home church, Emilee did her 8th grade solo. Most students use this as an opportunity to put their own juggling routine together, but Em loves to sing, so hers was a musical solo. Although not familiar with the song she sang, it was a powerful, anthemic worship song, and she nailed it. It was a proud moment for her and her whole family.
The rest of the show went well at every turn, and the audience loved it. One member of the congregation who had seen us before said it was their best ever, and I agree. There machete medley was flawless, and the kids have worked on new entrances for this one. They came on stage dancing and tumbling, which brought a whole new energy to the routine.
As always, this congregation was incredibly generous, and we received a $500 offering. This will go a long way towards our class's spring trip to Vermont where we will do six shows in four days. All in all, it was a successful morning for the LOL team.
