Windham (Maine) Assembly of God hosts an annual Easter egg hunt that brings in hundreds from the town. Last year, my daughter, Rose, and I did a half hour set of the Supreme Court Jester's routines before the big hunt. This year, my student juggling troupe (which this year also includes Rose) were invited to do the show. It was today, and it was a great morning.
There were about 150 people present, including a large number who are not regular attenders of the church. Sometimes it has been hard to get all of the LOL kids together for weekend gigs, but today we had all 15. We altered our show to fit within the half hour time frame we were to fill, and we also altered it to focus on Easter related themes. After opening with a new partner routine that involved every student at least once, we went into an adapted version of what is normally our "Jingle Bells" routine. Being Easter, we changed the music, but more had to be altered. We went from producing yards and yards of garland to producing a live bunny. We Went from juggling jingle bells to juggling eggs, and so on.
Of course, we performed some of our regular routines as well. Grace P. juggled machetes for the first time in a show, Jaclyn stole machetes from Rose for her first time, too. Also for her first time, Abby played the foolish builder in the parable of the builders, and she was hysterical. And I had a ball (no pun intended) doing a rapid fire ball stealing routine with Sebastien. Perhaps the most notable first, though, was that Rastelli, our six week old dove made his first appearance, too. He handles wonderfully.
After the show, and lots of congratulations from the parents present, the kids were set loose to hunt for eggs, and LOL was dismissed to pursue their Easter weekend preparations.
