Yesterday was Good Friday, and my daughter, Rose, and I had it off form school. In the morning we did a show at the local nursing home, a venue we visit four times a year. This was our first time there this year, and the first time since the retirement of Dee Dee, the activities coordinator who has worked there ever since we've started visiting in 1987.
We were able to incorporate several things we have never done there before, including the ribbons to dive production, coal to diamond, diminishing water glasses, our treasures in Heaven routine, and Rose and my partner juggling routine. She and I were on the top of our game in every routine. Rose even joined me in my machete juggling routine for the first time. Being Good Friday, of course we focused on an Easter theme, and the staff, residents and guests all enjoyed the holiday program.
Our dear friend, Erlyne Proctor continues to live at Bridgton Health Care, and she is looking and feeling well. Erlyne has been deaf since childhood, and I do my best to communicate with her using sign language. I am very rusty with my signing, and she playfully scolded me for not keeping up with it better. It is always a blessing to see her.
When our show was over, I hugged Erlyne and kissed her on the cheek. Another female resident then demanded, "Hey, where's mine?" Of course, I had to hug her, too, as well as another elderly lady who demanded the same.
Happy Easter!
