“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Togus VA Hospital

Last weekend I travelled up to Augusta, Maine to do a service for the Protestant chapel at the state's VA hospital.  Sue and Rose stayed back in Bridgton, as they played host to a special guest speaker in our home church (More on them in another blog).  The guest was Joseph Ssawadda, the director of the orphanage our oldest daughter worked at for 10 weeks over the summer.

So, I kept our engagement for a service for some very special people; US military veterans.  We do shows there every year, so some of the long term patients remember our family.  They welcomed me back, but wondered where Sue and Rose were.  The chaplain, however, was new.  He's a very nice guy from a Methodist background who moved here from South Carolina.  I was a member of a South Carolina Methodist church for three years, so meeting him brought back some memories from 30 years in the past.

I was asked to do 25 minutes of the service, and I went heavy on juggling: four of the seven routines were juggling routines. I included Psalm 150, a juggling routine with props that make 'music', and my silk juggling routine; both of which are ones I do only occasionally these days.   I focused on the theme of how God deserves our praise in hard times as well as good times, because our circumstances aren't what should determine our attitude of worship.  God's awesomeness is why we should "pray without ceasing" and "praise Him in all circumstances".
