6 One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them. 7 The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”
8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servants at the Bridgton Alliance Church? There is no church like them; they are enthusiastic and upright, a congregation who fear God and shun evil.”
9 “Do they fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. 10 “Have you not put a hedge around them? You have blessed the work of their hands, so that their sanctuary is beautiful, their sound and video systems are state of the art, their reputation in town highly esteemed. 11 But now stretch out your hand and cause a week of cold rain during their biggest outreach they’ve ever attempted, and they will surely curse you to your face, give up on outreach projects, and return into the comfort of their sanctuary where they cannot reach the souls I control.”
And a week of rain came from the Lord, causing cancellations, delays, and poor attendance of many of the church’s outreach events.
Yet in all this, the saints of the Bridgton Alliance Church sinned not, nor complained, nor charged God foolishly. They stayed true to God, and He will bless them in their future efforts beyond what they could ever imagine.
