Many people are unaware that kids across the country are able to hold Bible clubs and prayer groups in their public schools.  These need to be before or after regular school hours, and usually – but not always- require a faculty advisor.  These groups can represent any religious group that has students who want to participate.  This afternoon rose and I got to visit one of these groups.

At the Village elementary school in Gorham, Maine, a team of three ladies from a local church come in once a week and lead a “Good News Club”.  The ladies are from White Rock Baptist Church, where our friend and onetime coworker Jonathan Marshall is the pastor.  Rose and I did a 45 minute show for 10 kids grades K through 6.  These young kids were very well behaved for such a long show.  I did a standard kid show, focusing on basic Bible stories.  I did include one new trick where I seemingly turn five scraps of newspaper into $50 bills (stage money of course!)

I love to watch Rose step up when it’s just the two of us doing a show.  One of the adult leaders was there with her 2 1/2 year old son.  When Rose wasn’t needed to be with me, she was being mother’s helper with the toddler so his mom could work with the older kids.  She’s really growing up.
