Bridgton is a wonderful little town to live in, and has been a great place for Sue and me to raise our three daughters. It is a town of about 5000 people, but there are always family friendly events happening. We have lived here for 35 years, and I've often been asked to juggle at the various parades, fairs, and festivals. Last weekend was Bridgton's Harvest Moon festival, and I was again asked to perform for the friends and neighbors of Bridgton.
The festival was originally schedule for last Saturday, but Hurricane Lee's closeness to the state of Maine caused the organizers to postpone it to Sunday afternoon. Although we got no rain from Lee, we did have some pretty ridiculous winds on Saturday while Sunday was perfect, so the organizers made a great call.
I was not scheduled to work on the stage, so I set up in the field adjacent to where Nettie Hoops was working. Nettie is a local hula hoop expert and teacher, and also the sister of a former student of mine. There was plenty of room for both of us, and it was a great time Besides Nettie, I ran into a former student named Casey. Also, our friends Alan and Kim were there promoting Kim's new children's book about her hen, Mabel, and Pastor Mike and Lisa from a local church were there as well.
Also at the fair were current students Alex, Liam and Mary. Liam was there with his parents, Pastor Will and Lucy, who is also a coteacher with my wife and me. Mary was selling homemade jewelry, and she said the next day that she had made about $130. Not bad for an afternoon, especially when you're only 13.
I love living in a small town, and I love the opportunities to participate in this town's various community events.
