“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Woodlands Memory Care

We first heard of Woodlands Memory Care Facility from our friends Jim and Deb Maurice.  Deb's mom washaving a harder and harder time living alone, and was one of the very first  residents at this new facility right on the otherside of Bridgton.  At Jim and Deb's suggestion, I contacted the activity office there, and a show was scheduled.

My first impression of the new home was absolute awe at how beautiful it was inside and out.  I was given a choice of large rooms to set up in, anf settled on a large living room area. I was pleased with the ceiling height which allowed for more juggling that in many similar venues.  Then, shortly before the 10:30 start time, who should come in but Jim and Deb.

The show went for an hour, and there was immediate talk of having me back this summer.  What I find interesting about memory care facilities (I've performed at a few) is that the residents are completely lucid during the show.  They get the jokes, the Gospel message, the mystery of the illusions.  Then, after the show, they may ask the same question five or ten times in a row.  This is very different from traditional nursing homes, where the people are often much less responsive during the show.  Also, the residents at there memory care facilities are all ambulatory.  This seems to be a new movement in health care, at least around Maine, and it seems to be meeting a real need. I look forward to going back soon.
