“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

From my Journal of my First Mission Trip: the DR 1994 (8th entry)

Wednesday:

After breakfast and chapel, we all went to the worksite.  It rained right away, so again we gathered under the tarp and sang.  Because of the late start, and the fact that our interpreters were going through the neighborhood announcing a medical clinic for the afternoon, Mike and Inevergot to work.  After lunch I went to the VBS and did some street jugglingto draw a crowd.  It turned ibto "play with the Domijican kids" as it often does here.  In fact (believe it or not) I enjoy that part if it as much as anything.

I wasn't needed for the actual VBS, so I caught a ride with John's wife, Deb, back to camp at 3:00.  I felt like maybe I had bailed out on them, and that I had overstayed my usefulness here in the DR.  I spent a good bit of time in prayer that that would not be the case.

After supper (American food.  Disappointing!) I learned - after two or three or four changes of plans - that Mike would be going to a different church to do his program, and I would get more time at Central.  I was very nervous before the show, "What if  it happens again?"  etc. But it was by far the best I have done yet.  Thank you Lord for answering the prayers of that afternoon.

Afterwards I was lightheaded, and I felt some of the tightness in my chest so I drank a lot of water.  John told me it was 94 degrees in the church.  It didn't feel it.  (By the way, I have to pee all the time, but I guess that's to be expected drinking 1 1/2 to 2 gallons of water a day.

I was still feeling weak upon returning to camp.  However, the worship band from the Church of God of Prophecy had set up on the stage between our dorm and the girls' gorm to play for us.  I went right to bed, but of course didn't sleep with Latin music literally right outside my window (And actually they were very good.)  We finally had lights out at about 11:15.
