“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

From the Amsterdam Airport

We just arrived in Amsterdam on our way to Uganda, where we will be living and serving at Agape Children's Home for the next month. The home is run by Joseph and Gladys Sserwadda, whom we have gotten to know over the past few years since our oldest daughter served at Agape as a college intern.

The thing about trips like this for me -and I'm hardly an experienced missionary - is I get reminded of how much I worry instead of depend on God. A day or two before leaving, I was reminded of the Exodus. Time after time God had shown Himself faithful. The children of Israel wanted nothing more than to get into the Promised Land, but when they were finally on the brink of entering it,10 of the 12 spies were so frightened they convinced everyone to hold off, and wandered in the desert for another 40 years because of it.

That was me. After 14 months of planning this trip, saving money, raising funds, and dreaming of finally being in Africa,it was suddenly right before me and I was so scared I wondered if we should even be going. Of course, with the tremendous support we have recieved, and the amount spent on tickets, that wasn't an option, but running away in fear was an appealing thought.

And our the trip so far has been frighteningly easy and uneventful. On the plane from Boston, Sue sat next to a Ugandan woman who will also be on our next flight. Once she found out we were going there to serve, she said "God is good" and "Praise the Lord" repeatedly. God proved again that he blesses in big and small ways. (As I typed this last paragraph, that same lady just joined us at the gate to await our next flight.)

Another scripture I've come upon recently is the time when the disciples and Jesus were in a boat going to "the other side" and a storm arose. The disciples, even those who were experienced deep sea fishermen, panicked. They couldn't believe Jesus was sleeping. When he awoke he rebuked them for their lack of faith, but remembering they like we are dust, he rebuked the storm as well. "Peace, be still" He said.

Peace, be still.

God is good. Praise the Lord.
