My 7th and 8th grade juggling club, LOL did the elementary chapel at their home school, Windham Christian Academy. The show was last week, and for an hour my 12, 13 and14 year olds kept the younger kids spellbound. It was a great morning.
While my students all admitted that there were some rough spots with their juggling (it was an 8:30 show and they had no warm up time) their overall performance was splendid. Their opening number, a partner juggling routine to "It's a Ska Ska Ska Ska World" had several drops, but Elijah and Josiah were flawless stealing three balls from each other, and Caleb, Sam and Leah were terrific passing diabolos.
After this came the skit "Pebbles". For days afterwards, younger students were seen around the school stamping their feet and yelling ,"I'm Pebbles!" Veronica was spot on in that role, as she was as a ditzy air head in "Prodigal Juggler". She has worked hard to perfect these parts, and it shows.
Other highlights include Emily juggling three battle axes, introduced by the sassy teacher, Mr. H as, "Three battle axes, but enough about the elementary teachers!" Also, Elijah, the most natural performer I've taught in years, took the role of Jesus for the first time that morning, and he was outstanding. Caleb performed the magic coloring book for the first time, and Josiah was part of the machete medley for,the first time as well, and they were flawless in their respective roles.
Its always fun for my students to do a show for their former teachers, and it's always even more fun for the younger students to see what the "big kids" are doing in middle school. It was a fun morning.
